Three-Part Training Series on Federal-Sector Metering for Compliance with the Energy Policy Act 2005.
Course description: Three-part web-based training program focused on Federal-sector metering needs for compliance with the Energy Policy Act 2005 (EPAct 05). Course content to include:
- Metering planning - needs and key steps
- Technologies - appropriate options for the Federal sector
- Communications - navigating the wired and wireless worlds
- Data storage and use - where and how to store and use metered data
- Financing, economics and justification - how to pay for and justify the metering expense
- Case studies - Federal-sector case studies and success stories
Part 1, Metering Overview: Highlight the rationale and benefits, technologies, planning and cost justification of metering.

Workshop Objectives
- Present high-level overview of metering including EPAct requirements, technical/economic rationale, and financing options.
- Achieve an understanding of metering technologies, equipment and applications.
- Describe the methods and approaches for building-level, panel-level, and end-use metering.
- Explain the different data communication and storage options for metered data.
- Understand and be able to outline the key elements of a metering plan.
- Describe with case studies some immediate metering ideas to generate energy and cost savings.
Who Should Participate?
Federal energy and facility managers and staff Contracted Federal O&M, energy and facility staff. Registration preference will be given to Federal sector and contracted employees.
